Hi, I’m Laura Peischl
and I am a trained practitioner of functional medicine, holistic menopause health, integrative nutrition as well as holistic hormone health (read here for my education and credentials).
I am 55 years old and my personal menopause story can be told in one powerful sentence:
I went through menopause with (almost) no symptoms.
My motivation in becoming a certified menopause health practitioner has its roots in the family history.
My teenage years were impacted by my mother’s menopause symptoms.
I witnessed her struggles with extreme hot flashes (and heavy sweats) that affected her professional work as an architect (she was a female architect in the 1970’s), in an industry dominated by men – construction. Her severe symptoms created insurmountable daily challenges from having to take a few change of clothes to having to quit meetings because of extreme hot flushes.
I learned to avoid her when she came home from work. She was irritable, depressed and totally fatigued – classic symptoms of untreated menopause.
To cope with HER symptoms, I spent winter evenings with open windows wrapped in a blanket, spent my holidays mostly in the mountains – although all I dreamt of was sea, sun and a nice beach.
It was difficult witnessing her struggles with weight gain, and hearing her pacing up and down the house or listening to music one sleepless night after another.
There is hope!
Unlike my mom, I grew up in a time when the dots between what you ate and how you feel started to connect. And while I might have normally dreaded my own menopause based on my mother’s symptoms, I was spared repeating the same experience due to a holistic approach to my life.
I’ve had a long-time obsession with all things natural – from eating whole foods to researching and using herbs and supplements to regular exercising – choices that support a healthier lifestyle in the long term.
Based on my personal experiences, I have now combined my health passion and my desire to help women with my profession.
